Recently a “really good student”
named Steve Kazmierczak, it
seems, took several guns
into a geology lecture on
Valentine’s Day at Northern
Illinois University and shot up the
class. One hundred to 120 students
were in the class at the time. (Time:
about 3 in the afternoon on February
14, 2008; weapons: a 12-gauge shotgun,
a .22 pistol, a 9mmpistol and a .45
Glock semiautomatic handgun.)
Why did he do it? Authorities are not
quite sure. But whatever triggered the deadly
rampage of this “nice boy,” one key factor—
as in other, similar events—seems to have
been the drug Prozac (fluoxetine). According to
some experts, it is reasonable to say that Prozac should never
have been approved in the first place by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA).
Prozac was allowed on the U.S. market on December 29,
1987. But even before the drug was approved for the market,
a British medical journal said recently, it had given
American regulators confidential drug company
documents suggesting a link between the
popular “antidepressant” and a heightened
risk of suicide attempts and violent acts.
Documents it received from an
anonymous source indicated that Prozac’s
manufacturer, Eli Lilly & Co.,
was aware in the 1980s that the drug
could have troubling side effects, The
British Medical Journal reported
(Jan. 1). The BMJ said a record dated
November 1988 indicated that Prozac
had caused “behavioral disturbances”
in clinical trials.
(Eli Lilly is said to be linked to the
George Bush family.)
BMJ said the documents, missing for 10
years, were part of a 1994 lawsuit against Eli Lilly
on behalf of victims of a workplace attack in Louisville, Ky.
Joseph Wesbecker, the gunman who killed eight people and
himself in 1989, had been prescribed Prozac a month before
the shootings. (Eli Lilly won that case but later disclosed it

More and more physicians are refusing bad
drugs and the accompanying favors. R.
Jonathan Mohrer, MD, is among them,
according to a lengthy article in Newsweek
magazine.
He would receive up to 10 visits a day from drug salesmen,
bringing free pens, lunches and drug samples.
“I’d been getting pitches for Vioxx almost every week,
even while questions were being raised about it in medical
journals,” Mohrer told Newsweek. He kicked the salesmen
out and made it clear he would not accept their calls. “It’s
been a real relief,” he said. “I don’t know how I juggled it
all.” (Vioxx, a heavily promoted painkiller, was withdrawn
after clear evidence that it increased the risk of heart attacks
was exposed.)
Mohrer is one of a growing number of physicians who are
saying no to drug company promotions. Some belong to No
Free Lunch, an organization that asks doctors to take a
pledge not to receive drug company salesmen. Founded in
1999, No Free Lunch has 800 members out of 800,000 practicing
physicians in the United States.
The American Medical Student Association has collected
a similar number of pledges from the nation’s 68,000 medical
students—twice as many pledges as it had a year ago.
Increasing numbers of hospitals, health care systems,
medical schools and states are starting to impose restrictive
policies. Minnesota has already set limits on gifts, and three
other states are considering similar legislation.
“There’s growing evidence that these relationships color
doctors’ prescribing practices, even if doctors think they
don’t,” Dr. Karen Antman, dean of Boston University’s medical
school, told Newsweek. BU imposed a ban on all gifts
and lunches from drug salesmen and they can visit only if
invited.
Big Pharma spends big bucks marketing to physicians. In
2004, the total reached $23 billion, including $15.9 billion
in free drug samples, according to the Pharmaceutical
Research and Manufacturers of America.

Consuming pork and shellfish regularly can
guarantee you an early trip to the grave. Pork
and shellfish rank near the top of the list as
some of the worst foods you can put into your
body right along with trans fats, refined sugar
and artificial sweeteners. Consumption of these foods was
forbidden to the ancient Israelites in the books of Leviticus
and Deuteronomy because they were considered unclean.
To this day Orthodox Jews and Muslims avoid pork and
shellfish.
However, in America, and much of the Western world,
many people eat pork, pork chops, pork ribs, ham, bacon,
pepperoni, pork sausage, chitterlings (chitlins), scrapple
and other pork by-products. Let’s examine a few of the reasons
why God said in Leviticus that a pig was an unclean
animal and why He said pigs shouldn’t be eaten.
Pigs are scavengers. They are notorious for eating anything,
including their own waste and garbage. A pig will
eat sick and infected animals, including its own piglets that
die from disease. Pigs also have one of the quickest, yet
poorest digestive systems of any animal. On average a pig
can completely digest its food in four hours. Since it
processes everything so fast, many times the toxins aren’t
removed and they are stored in the pig’s fat. Many pigs are
traumatized physically before being slaughtered. Under
these conditions, which are generally the case in large factory
operations, pigs will release toxins and hormones into
their muscles that affect the quality of their meat.
Pigs are also notorious for being infected with parasites
and tapeworms because they roll around in animal waste
most of their lives. Anyone who knows anything about
cooking pork knows that it is important to cook it long
enough and warm enough to make sure all the parasites
and tapeworms have been killed off. If not, one could
become infected.
Eating pork containing cooked, dead parasites doesn’t
sound much better. All parasites lay eggs to create more
parasites. Just because a parasite dies during cooking doesn’t
mean that you can’t become contaminated by the eggs.

90% of our population today has
parasites in their bodies that reside
primarily in the intestinal system.
Certainly our society’s desire for
pork products has played a
major factor in this. People
who consume pork products
all the time tend to be
overweight and unhealthy.
Body odor is usually a problem,
too.
A doctor I know says pig fat
is the best medium there is for
cancer growth. He runs a hightech
laboratory where all sorts of
microbiological research and tests are
conducted. Their lab puts a lot of
emphasis on diagnosing and treating cancer
naturally. They actually have the ability to isolate
cancer viruses from a patient’s blood and view them under
a microscope to determine the strain and then develop a
regimen of herbs to help rid the body of that specific virus.
They also have the ability to replicate the cancer virus in a
petri dish. He said the best medium he works with for
growing cancer viruses is pig fat.
If they can do that in a lab, what’s all the pig fat doing
to your body internally if you’re eating high amounts of
pork products regularly? It would be interesting to see a
study where that question was asked of cancer patients.
My guess is we would find that many cancer patients and
people with poor health are pork eaters.
Did you know that all of the clean animals God said we
could eat live only on vegetation? They also digest their
food much slower and more effectively so they aren’t storing
all these toxins and wastes in their bodies. Would you
rather eat an animal that eats filth and waste and is potentially
contaminated with parasites or would you rather eat
an animal that processes its food properly and
eliminates the toxins from its body?
You should also avoid shellfish.
Shellfish consists of lobster, shrimp,
oysters, clams, crabs, scallops and
mussels. All shellfish can be a serious
health risk. Like pigs, they are
scavengers that live at the bottom
of the ocean and eat the waste
of other animals and the pollutants
that man dumps into
the ocean. Although only
0.1% of all shellfish consumed
is eaten raw, that tiny
percentage is responsible for a
large proportion of reported
food-caused illnesses. Poisoning
from shellfish can come from bacterial
or viral contamination.
Generally adequate cooking eliminates
this danger, but is it worth the risks in the long run?
Poisoning can also arise from heat-stable toxins derived
from the food that the shellfish have been eating. Shellfish
are notorious for being high in mercury, heavy metals, and
industrial contaminants in the environment because they’re
bottom feeders that eat the ocean’s waste. I’m sure I don’t
have to explain in detail how damaging these heavy metals
and toxins can be to your health.

Presidential candidates are arguing over who
proposes the best plan to ensure more “universal
healthcare.” But the debate is not about
real healthcare. It is about the medical care
delivery system, and how to finance it; how to
cope with the vast inflationary cycle in the system; and
how to insure the uninsured.
Health care costs and insurance are high enough to
make the healthiest person sick. Educating and motivating
people to adopt healthy lifestyles, and only participate
in non-toxic therapies, can ensure health better than
some insurance plan.
Enhancing citizen choice of the health care practitioner
is important. The educated consumer has access to
digital information online to facilitate treatment decision-
making in partnership with their medical and
healthcare provider.
Preventive medicine is not just early diagnosis of serious
pathology, but is inclusion of healthcare modalities
such as nutrition that medical schools do not teach, or
include in training.
What can we do about this? The answer is to create a
true healthcare system.Themedical care delivery system
has not been based on a definition of what health is, what
creates it, and what can restore it when one is sick.
Medical care is based on the basic medical sciences of
biochemistry and physiology. And too often all that is
put at risk with pharmacology.
The very strength of medical care is diagnostics in the
age of technology. Look at two Institute of Medicine
studies and recommendations from August and
September 2006; on “PreventingMedication Errors; and
the Future of Drug Safety.” The FDA amendments
passed by Congress last year on post-market surveillance
of pharmaceutical drugs remain to be implemented and
have a positive effect. People are just on too many drugs.
A true healthcare system would implement, integrate,
and bring to the center of public policy what would balance
the system with modalities that already work well
for the educated consumer.
This includes nutrition, healthier food, such as organics;
and bodywork modalities that bring posture into balance,
or structural integration, such as osteopathy, chiropractic,
and the soft tissue therapies such as message,
and myofascial release, among many others.
Good results would come from implementing the recommendations
of the President’s Commission on
Complementary and Alternative Medicine from the
1990s. It speaks to integrating healthcare into medical
care.
Another important matter for reform is the medical
malpractice litigation system. Fear of frivolous lawsuits
resulting in huge judgments increases everyone’s costs
due to “preventive medicine,” in which physicians conduct
every imaginable procedure to avoid accusations of
malpractice.
The fear of lawsuits runs up the costs of defensive
medical practice; and quite simply and truthfully makes
honest people dishonest. It is time to stop subsidizing
the insurance industry with medical malpractice premiums,
that do not predominately go toward helping people
heal from medical mistakes, practices that may have
been done better, and not grossly negligent.
The 1973 Nixon HEW Commission on Malpractice
stated in its summary of alternatives to litigation: “There
is no rule of law or precedent of public policy that precludes
the use of arbitration in a medical-legal interface.”
It is past time to recreate the malpractice litigation
system that does not benefit consumers and patients.
“Standards of Practice” ought be determined by evidence-
based medicine and healthcare; not by case law,
and fear, distrust, hatred, and conflict of doctors &
lawyers.

Candace Downing would be 16 today—a
bright, chipper and athletic girl enjoying
her junior year of high school, probably as
the honor student she was in junior high.
Instead, this past January 10 marked the
fourth anniversary of her legalized murder via government
edict in the public schools of Laytonsville, Md.
However, no one is blaming any one individual for
Candace’s death but rather the system. Candace, then
12, was healthy and happy one day—the day she took
the drug Zoloft for test anxiety at school. She wasn’t
depressed. In addition to being an honor student, she
was an artist, an athlete and a constant joy to her family.
But the next day she was dead, having hanged herself
from the valence of her bed following the ingestion
of this legally sanctioned drug.
“We were never given any warning,” says Candace’s
mother, Mathy Milling Downing, who today is an outspoken
opponent of Zoloft and other drugs being
administered by school systems across the country—
many for experimental reasons only. She also is now the
state director of the Maryland-Washington chapter of
the International Coalition for Drug Awareness.
“Unfortunately, ours is not an isolated incident,” she
says. “No warning of risk was listed in pamphlets about
Zoloft at our doctor’s office, and I received no warnings
from the prescribing doctor.”
The pharmaceutical company dispensing the drug
says on its website that Zoloft is well tolerated and
effective for the treatment of depression and certain
types of anxiety disorders and that it is FDA approved.
“For more than 15 years,” the spiel continues, “Zoloft
has safely and effectively treated millions of people
with depression and anxiety.”
Quite the contrary, actually, but whenMrs. Downing
opposed the idea of putting Candace on the drug, the
doctor told her there would be no problems. “What are
you worried about?” he asked her. “These drugs are
safe and effective. Children take doses of 100 to 200mg
a day with no problems.” She was given some sample
packs, and Mrs. Downing still has them as evidence.
It wasn’t until after her daughter’s death that Mrs.
Downing discovered that her doctor didn’t know what
he was talking about, just as so many of them who take
their postgraduate instruction from pharmaceutical
books and drug salesmen. Soon she learned that up to
four children out of every 100 who take the drug run the
risk of dying by their own hands or at least attempting
to do so.
Speaking at a recent Washington conference sponsored
by the International Center for the Study of
Psychiatry and Psychology, Mrs. Downing told her
heart-rending story of Candace’s unnecessary death.
For more than four decades ICSPP, a nonprofit, 501
(c) research and educational network of professionals
and lay persons, has been informing professionals,
media and the public about the potential dangers of biological
theories and treatments in psychiatry. The group
calls this school medication problem “a national
tragedy of monumental proportions” and points out
since the federal funding of the program began, diagnosis
of bipolar cases has increased 40 times.
The Downings’ legal action is still pending, with the
most recent postponement putting the case off until
next January. However, Mathy has a panel of medical
experts ready to testify in her behalf and feels the
impact of this civil trial will have multiple ramifications
and is hopeful that will include the cessation of the sale
and distribution into society of this horrible drug. AFP

had settled with the plaintiffs during trial.)
The history of Prozac was tainted from
the start. It began in 1982, when David
Dunner of the University of Washington
began receiving money that would eventually
total over $1.4 million from Lilly for
his research and seminars.
Dunner was a member of the FDA’s
Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory
Committee that is responsible for reviewing
new drug applications brought before
the FDA. These members are routinely
asked if they might have any conflict of
interest with each manufacturer presenting
new drugs. Dunner responded to this question
by stating “no pending commitments
at the present time.” The FDA assumed his
answer was truthful, but in fact Dunner had
already been paid by Lilly for conducting a
clinical trial of Prozac on 100 people. Thus
he apparently had a serious conflict of
interest that he covered up.
Dunner had also given five seminars
regarding “depressive disorders” sponsored
by Lilly, which he failed to mention
to the committee. Furthermore, Dunner
also had two more paid seminars booked
by Lilly that would take place after the
approval of Prozac—another fact he failed
to mention.
To make matters worse, Dunner
received another Lilly grant to conduct a
new study on the effects of Prozac on sleep
patterns. This was five days after Prozac
was approved.
In 1985, Lilly conducted tests on
Prozac and found the drug not to be significantly
more effective than the placebo.
But an FDA statistician suggested to Lilly
that the test results could be evaluated differently,
causing the results to come out
more favorably for Prozac. Guidelines
constructed by Lilly for the clinical trials
excluded the reporting of “adverse experiences
caused by depression,” thus skewing
the results.
In 1986, Richard Kapit, MD, of the
FDA stated that Prozac “may exacerbate
certain depressive symptoms and signs.”
Clinical risks of mild to moderate
severity appeared to be associated with the
use of Prozac, as determined by review of
the safety data in the New Drug Application
submission. The FDA safety review
discovered that Lilly failed to report information
about psychotic episodes during
Prozac’s testing, but the FDA failed to reprimand
Lilly for omitting this important
data.
By 1987, in fact, two months before
Prozac was approved for the market there
had already been 39 deaths fromcontrolled
clinical trials: 15 were listed as suicides,
another six were by overdose, four more
were by gunshot and another two were by
drowning. These 27 fatal cases were confirmed
to be directly related to taking
Prozac. (An additional 12 deaths were
reported but could not be directly related to
the drug.)

Md., parents were ordered to appear in
court with their children for court-directed,
state-mandated vaccinations or face
fines or imprisonment. The reason for this
outrageous invasion of the rights of parents
to protect their own children was the
possible loss of $26 million by the county’s
public school system.
Maryland law says that in order for the
schools to get the 46% of their budget
which the state provides, a child must be
enrolled in school. State regulations
require the child be vaccinated to be enrolled.
Unless vaccinations are up to date,
according to the law, a child can be denied
admission to school or expelled. This is a
great deal for the highly-profitable drug
industry and for those who provide vaccination
services, but a bad deal for parents.
Where is the evidence that the vaccinations,
that these children were forced to
accept, are safe and effective? The fact
that the new disease, autism, which first
appeared in the United States as a rare
birth defect, rapidly blossomed into an
increasing scourge after the inception of
the national vaccination program is evidence
that vaccinations are not safe.
Informed scientists like the chairman of
the Chemistry Department of the
University of Kentucky, Boyd Haley,
attempted to get the Centers for Disease
Control to recognize the damage vaccinations
were causing for more than 15 years.
The American Academy of Pediatrics,
recently attempted to suppress anABC television
program about autism, but failed.
Their press release claimed that no scientific
link has been found between vaccines
and autism.
It is true that the official publications of
the medical monopoly contain nothing
derogatory about vaccines. That would be
bad for business. However the Journal of
the American Association of Physicians
and Surgeons in 2003 published a study
which showed a connection. Children who
received three vaccines containing the preservative
thimerosol, which contains mercury,
were found to be 27 times more likely
to develop autism than those who
received thimerosol-free vaccines.Thimerosol
was once evaluated as a topical disinfectant
against umbilical cord infections. It
killed many of the kids in the test.
Investigators recommended that it be
banned from hospitals.
The fact that thimerosol is no longer
approved for use in pediatric vaccines does
not mean that the problem is solved. Flu
vaccines, which contain 25 micrograms of
mercury, are now being promoted even for
infants. Moreover, the attempt to obliterate
childhood diseases may merely result in
their occurrence in older people with more
serious consequences.

Shortly before a hearing on Prozac in August 1991, an
FDA executive, Paul Leber, noted his concern about “the
large number of reports of all kinds on Prozac (more than
15,000).” But Leber’s concern was not for the victims but
for the manufacturer; he pressured personnel in charge of
the agency’s adverse reporting system to discount the large
number of reports of adverse reactions to Prozac as “of limited
value.”
By 1992 Prozac had 28,600 adverse reactions reported
to the FDA, plus an additional 1,700 deaths. Only about 1%
of the serious events are reported to the FDA, according to
one study, so those figures can probably be multiplied by a
factor of 100 to indicate the actual number of people hurt
or killed.That equates to 2.8 million adverse reactions as of
1992 alone.
It is reported thatThomas Hamilton, the alleged killer of
the children at Dunblane in Scotland, was taking Prozac,
and Eric Loca Harris, one of the teenage killers in the
Columbine High School shooting, was reported to be taking
the related drug Luvox. The main active ingredient in
Prozac was also found in the blood of Henry Paul, the driver
of the car when Princess Diana was killed (murdered,
some say).
Prozac clearly should never have been approved for sale
in America or anywhere else, but the Bushes and their
cronies evidently put profits before the lives of human
beings, and not only in Iraq and Afghanistan.
